/la/
La is a French definite article (the) and also a feminine object pronoun (her, it). In Arabic, it translates as ال for the article, ها or ه for the pronoun.

As a definite article, la agrees with feminine singular nouns and is essential in French (la maison = the house). As a pronoun, la replaces a feminine singular noun as a direct object and usually precedes the verb. Do not confuse the pronoun la with the adverb là (there).
