Italian - Turkish Dictionary
/non/
Non is the primary Italian negation word, used to negate verbs, adjectives, and other parts of speech. In Turkish, it is most commonly translated as değil or expressed through suffixes like -ma/-me.
| # | Type | Italian | Turkish |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | determiner | non used to show an activity is forbidden | yasaktır |
| 2 | adverb | non negates meaning of another word | değil |
| 3 | adverb | non negates meaning of another word | -ma |
| 4 | adverb | non negates meaning of another word | -me |
| 5 | conjunction | non And not | değil |
Non mi piace il caffè.
Bana kahve hoşlanmıyorum.
Questo non è corretto.
Bu doğru değil.
Non fumare in questo luogo.
Bu yerde sigara içmeyiniz.
Non always comes immediately before the verb or the word it negates. Unlike English, Italian requires non even when other negative words are present (e.g. 'non vedo niente' = I see nothing). The Turkish translation varies by context: use değil for predicate negation, and -ma/-me suffixes for verbal negation.
